Bad screen?
I have a 99 Lexus RX 300 and the screen will not work. It lights up but that's it.

Not uncommon. The screen input is unlikely the problem. It's the screen itself.

 

at 18 years old, maybe it's time to put something else in it?

LCD displays are pretty reliable. If anything I would expect the backlight to fail.

In your place I would take it apart and look for a loose connection. I imagine there is some ribbon cable connecting the display.
Failing that I see multiple Ebay listings for around $100.

How is the screen on hot days ... that is if you have them in Montana. I Have heard of display going dim when it is cold. If you keep your in garage or get it warm enough tell us if the screen comes bak to life.
