99 RX 300 vibrations
I need some ideas / help trying to determine the cause of my RX 300 vibration. It appears to be between 1900 and 2400 rpm (happens at vehicle rest and in park) and does not appear to be tranny related. I can hear a noise....sounds like a whine, possibly a bearing somewhere, and I can feel the problem through the gas peddle and the car body. I don't recall it being noticeable 6 months ago so I am hoping it is something that I can repair.
The vehicle has 86K on it so it is really time for a timing belt / water pump replacement. I plan on first removing the power accessory belts to see if the problem is related to alternator/ compressor etc. If not then I am hoping it may be related to the water/ timing belt or bearing. The vehicle revs up to 6,000 rpm smoothly with no problems and no vibrations at that speed so I am hoping it is not related to any internal enginge bearing.
I am ordering the service manuals (those aftermarket CD kits really do suck) even though it's $250! I need to find out more about the counter balances on the engine and whether or not there really is an electronically activated one on my vehicle. I think someone spoke about it on one of the threads.
Anyone have any other ideas as to what may be causing this or did anyone ever have a similar experience? Any other troubleshooting ideas would be helpful and appreciated? I plan on doing this myself.
Thanks!
