Default rx 300 no compression in cyclinder #2 is there any help?

I have a 2002 rx300 took my car to the Toyota dealership they said no compression in cylinder # 2. I'm guessing the pistons need to be replaced? does anyone know of any fixes or do I need to get a new engine. they said it would be $1300.00 to fix but no guarantees. I have a bad o2 sensor also. any suggestions?

did they do a leak down test as well? If not, it can possibly be a salvageable valve problem

Can you share the history? Over heating, boil over? Engine run with low/no oil?

Any oil in coolant, bubbles in coolant?

If the problem is above the head gasket, then the repair can be done for much less. Fast is asking the same question.

I bought it from an auction...I know, I know. It doesn't look like there's any coolant in the oil. There was a major oil leak but it looks as though it was fixed. it currently doesn't leak oil and is holding oil because I haven't had to refill it . They didn't do a run down check that I know of. All I got from them was the #2 cylinder has no compression.

no rich smell either but does smoke a little at first and runs rough. I was told it needed ignition coils I bought new denso ones and it didn't fix it.

can I do a leak down test or something to be able to tell if it's below the head gasket?

A competent mechanic can make that determination. Fortunately it is cylinder 2 which is relatively easy to get to. There is technique and interpretation involved so find a good mechanic. The one who would stand behind his diagnosis would be the best. So discuss everything, before handing over the keys.

Appears my question was answered. The leakdown test wasn't performed. It will determine where pressure is not holding on the compression stroke. Intake valve, exhaust valve or piston ring. Where the air will shoot out will be the tell tale sign where the problem is.
