Replacement Key Suggestions
2000 rx300 and our last key is ready to break. We have one master key in bad shape so I want to get another master. I don't have the key code but do have two cut key blades with no transponder or case. I see used keys on ebay and am wondering what I would have to do if I bought one of them. Can I program it to match my car? Can I insert one of my blades? The car is on it's last legs and I don't want to spend much on a new key but the one we have won't last
thanks

My case broke on one key and I just bought shell online and moved the electronics form the old key to the new. Then took it to a dealer who cut the new key. Cost about $5 for the key and $30 to cut new key.

Welcome to Club Lexus!
You can buy pre-cut key shells on ebay, shipped for about $20.
By pre-cut I mean you give them your key code or a picture of your current key and they will cut it to match.

New Master
Thanks for the suggestions. I think that is how I got the key 'blades' several years ago. I'm looking for another master with the whole lock/unlock feature. Can I buy an old key from someone on ebay and reprogram it somehow? Maybe substituting my key blades. Thank you!

You can buy a key fob on ebay for around $50-60 which can be programmed to your RX300. Make sure the FCC ID is the same. Seeing as you have already have two pre-cut shells, you can just take the guts from the ebay key and put them into your pre-cut shell.
There are instructions for programming the key on this forum. A quick search will reveal them!

speaking of keys; I guess i got pretty lucky when we bought my 99 300 back in january; as luckily it had both sets of keys with it including both valet keys. I just hope neither of my cases crack or break anytime soon. My keys have hit the ground a few times but thankfully the case didnt crack. I guess it happened when i had my hands full carrying things and lost my grip on them.

Get a key blank/shell on e-bay ($5 - $10). Open up your old master and remove the remote core. Place the old core in your new shell and get the key cut at the local Lexus dealership for $25. Once you start programming/reprogramming, things tend to get real expensive, real quick!

A dealer will provide you your key number if you call them, and with the key number you can go on ebay and have cut keys made.

-having someone flash the ECU
-finding an exact match ECU that would come with at least one good known master key
I was lucky that Sewell Lexas (don't remember if Ft. Worth of Dallas) would still do the flash for free, all I had to do was pay shipping and insurance both ways plus provide copies of relevant paperwork to prove ownership.
Once I got the ECU back I followed the instructions for programming from this site, and no issues.
