It is likely the solenoid, but at times if the battery can not produce enough juice you can have the same results. I would urge you to fully charge the battery or try getting a jump. With bad contacts you should get the same click and nothing with a fully charged battery or with a jump.
I looked up the other day and we do not have a DIY on the starter. If you plan to do this, please post a DIY. If you do the contacts, then replace the plunger too. I would advice against cheap after-market stuff. OEM stuff would last you another 10yrs [time is important than milage as the wear is based on the number of starts]
Back to your original question ..
The solenoid is piggy backed on to the starter. Starter for RX is on the driver side, nearly at the top of the engine. Disconnect battery (must), remove engine cover, remove air intake and trace one of the thick wires from the battery and it will take you to the starter. Large coffee mug/fountain-drink size motor.

Probably needs new starter contacts $6 parts and you could replace the plunger for $20 while you're at it. Had to change mine at 74,000 miles and still going at 120,000 miles. Toyota starters are strong, but contacts especially the positive side wear down until they no longer make contact.
