Default How much should it cost?

Hi everyone. I came across this board thru a friend of mine and I tell you it's great. A lot of good information.

Today I was looking at 2000 RX300, Gold, AWD. The car has all options but Navigation and Nakamichi. It has 17,800 miles. In addition it comes with Manik front bar, WAAG rear bumper bar, WAAG tail light guards and WAAG side step. The car has also all husky floor mats, husky cargo mat, cargo net, Covercraft car cover and mirror protectors. The car looks in perfect shape(the owner says garage kept). Also he said he cleaned and conditioned seats every other months and changed oil evey 2,500 mile.

Also I looked at the stiker on the driver door and it has production date of 07/02.

When I asked the price he asked $29,000.00.

What should I expect to pay for this cat? KBB.com says around $24,800 tread-in. Is he out of his mind? What is the real price for this car? The reason for selling the car, wants to buy GX model or something with third seat.

I just priced a 2000 AWD RX with a random New Jersey zip code: 17,800 miles, all the options and rated it as "excellent" condition. The private party value was $27,460. Give him an offer on what you think is fair - I can't say since I haven't seen or driven the vehicle.

Thanks for some replies. LexRX what zip code did you use? I used one of NY zips and this is what I get:

Engine: V6 3.0 Liter
Trans: Automatic
Drive: 4 Wheel Drive
Mileage: 17,800

Equipment: Auto-Climate Control Power Steering Power Windows Power Door Locks Tilt Wheel Cruise Control AM/FM Stereo Cassette CD Auto-Changer Dual Front Air Bags Front Side Air Bags Leather Dual Power Seats Moon Roof Roof Rack Privacy Glass Running Boards Grille Guard Alloy Wheels

Consumer Rated Condition: Excellent
"Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks great, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. It should pass...................
Trade-In Value $24,080

The car rides soft and quiet (big difference from corolla). Not pulling left or right as i read on the board. The only complain glove box rattle.

I used the 08201 zip code for Absecon New Jersey. Remember that Kelly's Blue Book gives you both trade-in and private party value. The trade in value is what a dealer will buy it for and the private party value is supposed to be the current market value of the vehicle.

In the past I have found Kelly Blue book to not the the most accurate source in deciding a vehicles value. I would suggest a great way to get an idea for how much the vehicle is worth (or would sell for) would be to look at Auto Trader ads, or other similarly equipped RX's for sale in your area. You can buy an Auto Trader magazine or check it online.
