Default 1999 RX300 window tinting

I'd like to tint the windows on my 1999 RX300, but am wondering if anyone knows of any tint film that will closely match the factory mirrored tint? I honestly don't prefer the mirrored tint, but not sure if I even have another option. I was also considering tinting the rear windows to help with the "matching" process seeing how the mirrored tint has a greenish hue. Not sure if I applied a faint charcoal tint on the rear, that would help balance the front windows when a mirrored charcoal tint was applied.

Can anyone share their experiences on this? Please post a picture if possible.

Thanks.

There is (or at least was) tint that matches the OEM rear glass however; I don't know what it's called or who makes it. My RX300 came tinted (im the second owner), and although I'm not a fan of the mirrored look, it all matches perfectly.

Someone on this forum should be able to chime-in about the brand.

I was able to get a matching tint from Sun Masters in Farmers Branch, TX (suburb of Dallas)' you can find their website for more info. Ask for Mike Falcone and he can tell you what type to get. I did get the back windows tinted with regular tint to make them darker - I would highly recommend doing so, but then again I live in TX and it makes a big difference during the summer months.

Thanks everyone. I don't believe Llumar makes the Platinum Plus anymore, at least that was what a tint shop that uses Llumar only tint told me. They did recommend the Llumar Air Blue 80 though. I'm going to the shop in a little bit to take a look and see what they can do. I also thought that puuting some on the back windows too, to darken it and potentially help with matching it better with the fronts. I will be sure to post a before and after pic on whatever I decide to go with.

Thanks again everyone and stay tuned

Just a thought. A former co-worker of mine who lives in Virginia got stopped by State Police in Virginia for having his SUV windows tinted too dark. It seems he bought the car used from someone from Texas. I guess the tinting shops know the legal limit, but it is something to consider.

Well, after my trip to the tint shop, the owner says they can indeed order the Llumar Platinum Plus...so, I'm going with that after all. I will post pictures once done in a few days.

I went with the Llumar Platinum Plus 18 all the way around with CTX 50 on the windshield. Pretty good match. I would have gone with the PP35, but the Llumar has discontinued it. The PP18 is really nice, it's dark but not hard to see at night at all. I highly recommend the CTX50 on the windshield, the picture makes it look darker than it is...you can't hardly tell it's tinted in person. After the fact, I read Formula 1 Premier is the same film as the PP...if I had to do over, I would have gone with 18 in the rear and 35 on the front....but I guess I can do that after I'm given a ticket! hahaha.

I've been wanting to look into tinting my RX front windows but California has draconian laws regarding the matter. I would prefer cops not being able to pull up beside me and see my radar detector or my phone being used as a GPS
