i need help my 2001 lexus will not start. the first time i tried to start it this morning, it did the whole slow to turn over but instead of turning over it went to clicking multiple times. all the lights are on so i dont think the battery is dead. everytime i try to start it now it just does the clicking and doesnt even try to turn over. any suggestions on what it might be.
Try the following:
1) Measure voltage at the battery terminals while trying to crank the engine; should be at least 12 volts. Make sure battery cables are clean and tight.
2) Measure voltage at starter while trying to crank engine; should be at least 11 volts. Check cable from battery to starter for corrosion and tightness of the terminals.
3) Check solenoid contacts for wear. Common problem at about 120K miles.
