Default Is this a good price?

Hi~I am about to buy a RX and wanted some input on the offered price. Currently about 34,800 plus ttl (MSRP 37,396). This is a 2003, 2wd with Value Plus and Wood Steering Wheel. I think that is all. I want heated seats, but none in stock. It will actually raise the price 2K just to get the headlights/seats. Any opinions would be great. I am not overly excited about this car. I have read almost every post here and know I will be satisfied. I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee with a V-8. I love my heated seats and the stereo controls on the steering wheel. I know these are silly things I will soon forget after I get behind the wheel of the RX. I did drive it for the weekend and am still indifferent to it. My ballon is up on my Jeep and they are picking it up in 5 days. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. I was looking at the XC90, but don't want to pay sticker for a car. Not to mention the wood-like paper taped to the dash that is called wood accents. YIKES. It is a very cool and safe suv though. Very SLOW though.

I heard someone recently getting at RX closer to dealer cost. Any help would be great! I have 2 GREAT dealerships in town and they are both similar in offered price. I have not really asked for any consessions yet...

Not to rain on your parade, but if you are indifferent to the RX300 after driving one for the weekend, then maybe you should rethink your decision on buying one? Afterall, you are going to be keeping it for quite some time. Whatever you purchase, it should get you excited.

Having said that, I think you should be able to get a better deal than what you stated. I paid $900 over invoice on our Coach Edition RX and that is when they first came out. Have you checked with Edmunds.com to see what invoice is? Since you have 2 dealers in the area, play them off of each other to see who is going to give you a better deal. If they have an internet dept., email the internet manager and see what their best price is. Finally, consider taking a little drive to save some money. I bought my RX in Miami and I live in Tampa. The Tampa Bay area dealers wanted MSRP for the Coach Editions. So I flew to Miami and drove the RX back to Tampa and saved quite alot of cash. Didn't even pay any doc fees which equated to an additional $599 savings.

Good luck.

There really is not much under 45K that would make me excited. I only drive about 6,000 miles max a year. I want a safe SUV with a good crash tests, decent gas mileage and a good reputation. Not many options on the market. I did like the RX, but I wasn't in awe. Edmunds is still only a $500 discount off MSRP. They are normally more on-the-ball. I think more than $1,000 over invoice is crazy in this market. I am going to lease it though. I hate the whole car game and prefer short balloons/leases. I have not purchased tires or had repair work done in over 10 years. I guess I have only driven 75,000 in 10 years. Wow, I need a life! Thanks again for the info.
