Default Rear Differential Question

I just finished changing out the fluid in my rear differential and I had one question.
Is this the "vent" in the rear differential? The one where oil comes out if you overfill?
Thanks,
Baetke

Filler hole is the place where the excess will flow out ,,, that is why you need to be on a flat (horizontal) surface.

The vent (for any) is to compensate for air pressure. Without the vent as the temp rises in the diff, pressure will build up and that can cause the seals to leak. The vent is also positioned at the very top.

Thanks Salim,
I remembered reading in a thread somewhere that someone was having problems with rear diff seal leakage or something like that and they discovered it was caused by excess pressure due to the vent being blocked. I just wanted to confirm this was the vent.
