Are you just changing the low beam bulbs to hid bulb + ballast or doing a more extensive change?

Headlamp houses high-beam and low-beam.

DRL uses high-beam bulb with each bulb getting about 6v instead of 12v.

Usually, the high beam should not be messed with when installing the HID,
HID can only operate on 12v -> ballast -> high voltage -> hid-bulb

You should check the instructions from the manufacturer of the HID setup you.

12v going to ballast should be independent of auto/manual head-lamp-on. (it should not matter).

Lastly, try going to the site of the HID manufacturer as they should provide you with the needed information.

Are you adding a new switch? If so how many terminals does it have?

Take a bit of time to explain your problem ,, keep in mind we are not there with you and your text here needs to convey all the information.
