1999 satnav swap?
Guys, my partner has a Jap imported Toyota Harrier which is basically Japan's Rx300, model year is 2000 and the central screen is a TV tuner/radio as well as displaying the heater functions and km etc. However the TV does not work as it's set for Jap frequency as well the radio and cars trip comp details is in Jap language. However I can get hold of a year 01 satnav and radio/tape dec console UK spec which would solve the radio issue etc. But as I do not have a satnav would this UK rx300 centre console be easily swapped for the current fancy Jap one? I don't mind not having the TV function as it does not tune in anyway but would there be any wiring issues? I would imagine the radio/heater wiring inputs would be the same and a matter of plugging back in like for like but how different would tv screen/monitor inputs differ from the Japs TV/car data to the UK's Satnav/car data inputs?? Please advise, thanks.

Excellent info there gaz, thanks for that. Having read through somw older posts regarding retro fitting nav systems I believe the setup came with custome wiring to allow it to easily be fitted plug n play for the older 99 systems but I'm just looking to do a strait swap with a newer looking setup that has nav function hence dont think it will be as simple as hooking up the radio and heater control wires and leaving the nav input alone. Therefore I think I'm just going to stick with the Jap info display. Although as it has a TV tuner, it may be able to take an input from another media source to allow me to use a digital TV recevier? It's going to be something I will start to look into...
