Default GROM TOYA3 Issues

Santa brought me a GROM TOYA3 Aux Adapter (currently on clearance). I've installed it exactly as shown in hte GROM install video. So now my (non Nakamichi) RX300's CD player is disconnected and replaced by the GROM unit.

Two issues:
1) When my iPod is connected and playing the iPod's audio comes through the car's stereo regardless of what source is selected on the head unit. In other words if the head unit is set to FM then radio and iPod play simultaneously.
2) The head unit will not switch to the CD input.

Anyone out there solved these issues?

P.S. If I keep my cassette adapter (the thing I'm hoping to get rid of) in the tape player and set the head unit source to Tape the iPod sounds very nice.

I got the TOY13 or TOYI3, whichever it is. This is the non-USB unit, trial-installed on my daughter's '99 last fall. Everything worked perfectly, but I had to turn it on and off a few times first. I read somewhere that that would help.

By turning on/off do you mean unplug and replug in? Mine doesn't have a switch.
Here's a pic of the unit I got.

I believe it was either turning the ignition or the radio power switch on and off. Mine is the model with the wide connector that fits into the iPod base, so the solutions for that one may not applya to yours.

I just did the $69.95 version of the Grom and even though the ad said "keep the CD" I had to unplug the cable from the CD player. The directions were worse than useless. It had me take out the radio for no reason what so ever. It should have said take out the glovebox and unplug the CD player, loose the CD player and you're done.
If you are getting signals from the Grom and the other sources I'd try unpluging the Grom and replugging it. It may have not made a connection on one of the wires that cancel everything else.
Good luck.
BYW, the sound on mine is great. You should be able to get there too.

Monkeyman6: They say "in-dash 6-CD will remain working" on their website..So, that's not the case for RX. Also, their installation video for RX300 on youtube shows brief but pretty much everything regarding installation.

Massmini turn off and on the radio not the grom unit. Grom has no power switch. This is just plug and play with your RX in-dash CD player cable which connected behind the CD player. If you have still this problem e-mail grom tech support. They will contact with you right way.

Been back and forth with grom tech support for several days. They immediately told me that the clearance unit I bought is not compatible wit the rx300 and that the info on their website is wrong.
I've updatedfirmware per their instructions. Now a second unit is being sent. The symptom is that disconnecting battery allows switch to CD but after the car sits it stops seeing the CD. Grom unit is in glove box replacing CD changer.

Massmini: please, let me/us know how it goes. I bought a GROM iPod adapter yesterday for my ES and will need to figure out how to switch back and forth between CD and the adapter as well.

Thank you,

Will do. And just to be clear... I'm not trying to set it up for switching between CD and Grom. I have removed the CD changer and replaced it with the Grom. All I want is to get the head unit to reliably switch to the CD input with the Grom installed. (Currently it will switch to CD immediately after a battery disconnect but will stop working after the car sits for a while)
