Anyone know how to replace timing belt tensioner. I believe i am leaking oil from it. Can i simply just remove the two bolts and install a new one or will i screw up the timing belt.
Working blindly, one can. Remember to unthread both evenly. The slack is on this side of the belt.
The prudent thing would to open the cover and see.and verify the belt has not jumped. If you are sure that the timing is true, you can change it. Make sure the rubber boot also comes out and tighten evenly.
I just had a new timing belt installed with water pump. These were change when the crank seal was replaced however i still leak oil. I am assuming maybe the tensioner is leaking. So with a recent belt change I was hoping i could just replace this tensioner without ripping everything apart.

Tensioner is filled with hydraulic fluid but the capacity is not large. I have not seen one leak, but I expect the leak would not be gusher (squirter yes) and the volume would be less. When it leaks out the belt can develop enough slack to slip.
My guess is that your tensioer is OK and the problem can be in the crank seal. Maybe the new one was not installed right or while trying to remove it the seat or the shaft got a deep scratch.
