Default Bulb questions

Hello,

Its been a while since I've posted in the forums.

I have a 2002 RX/300 w/160k miles.

It seemed that one of my HID bulbs (the one of the passenger side) didn't like turning that mileage, as she blew...

I've seen multiple posts here about various HID bulbs, etc. Just for "giggles" (I say that because I knew the price would be outrageous), I called a local Lexus dealership. Parts & labor close to $400.

I would like to purchase an HID (D2R) & replace myself, but looking at the bulb layout, it seems that it is a lot of work to even access/unscrew the cover to get at the bulb! How does one replace the passenger HID in a 2002 RX/300?

And while I had the headlights on, I noticed that my front parking light on the driver side (not the side marker - the parking light in the corner, next to the low-beams) is also out. How do I access this? I already have the bulb for this one.

Any advise as to where to purchase the HID, the brand to get, and how to replace would be greatly appreciated. Would it be worth my while to buy the bulb & then pay someone else to install?

Thank you
-Dan

What is really confusing me is the wide price of the HID lights, counterfeit lights, etc.

I am very tempted to click the "Buy it now" tab on this eBay item, as it appears to be a great deal on a supposed OEM Philips bulb- if it is legit.

What do you guys think?

I actually just found this on Amazon, which based on reviews, seems to be the OEM bulb for a few different Lexus models (although no one with an RX/300 reviewed).

Based on price, I am thinking of ordering 2.

What do you think?

When ever anyone wants to switch, I am tempted to ask the question ... what are you trying to accomplish? Is the current one bad (blown/dont_like_the_hue etc)? If you just have the itch for a change then you dont need any reason/justification. If the current one is fine, leave it alone is my philosophy. ymmv.

Salim,

I am trying to get the original OEM D2R that came with my RX/300.

I am completely satisfied with the OEM D2R bulbs, and am only contemplating replacing the other one because I've read that the color may not match because of its age.

I have the Coach Edition RX/300, which came with the HID lights
