Default Differential Fluid change question

Just curious about what fluids you guys prefer when it comes to changing the differential fluid?

I know over on the bimmer forums the guys are a big fan of Royal Purple or Amisol.

The moment I got the RX for my wife I had the transmission fliud and filter changed.

At my wifes work there is a on site mechanic who only uses Mobil 1 syn which I am a fan of.

We get an incredible discount thru his service. For example, my car calls for 8qts of oil. Total charge with filter and oil is just under $60 for me which is great.

When I had the RX's tranny fluid changed I had him look check for any metal shavings and all was good. I know that o this forum that religeous about using Toyota fluids. However , so far so good on the tranny with the M1.

Anyhow, anyone on here ever use Mobile, Royal Amisol? I begnining to like this site more and more on each visit for the simple fact that you guys are complete A-holes to us newbies. I appriciate that.

We don't really push the toyota fluid, but rather we push the certification that any transmission fluid you use should have toyota-type iv listed on the back.
I think the toyota fluid isn't stout enough for this transmission, which is why some of them fail even with regular maintenance.

For the rear differential I used redline. But, I prefer royal purple. It's good stuff! LOL
For the transfer case I used redline, and prefer redline.

Yep, Im a big fan of Royal Purple. Not a fan of the cost.

When I was doing my spark plugs , I had to crawl under the car to hunt down one of the rubber rings to a coil that magically disappeared on me. I noticed that there was previous signs of leaking from the front diff. Im wanting to get this done before the ridiculous weather here in Indy sneaks up and bites me in the... I really wish I had the service history on this thing but thats what you have to expect when it comes to "getting a good deal".

The only Toyota fluid I would insist upon is the coolant.

Hyper already mentioned Toyata type IV for transmission. Just keep in mind that it is different from Dexron IV.

The sensors again, i would insist upon OEM.

Use Mobil 1 synthetic in my RX wherever I can since 90,00 miles. Running up on 150,000 and no failures. Did have a recent transmission leak and a CV axle seal (into front diff) leak. Due to synthetics? Don't know.

Royal Purple is my favorite. We also have a 4Runner (RWD) and for its rear differential we actually have been using Redline. However, Mobil 1 is also very good along with Amsoil. Given that gear oil is one of the heartiest oils that goes into our vehicle, it's hard to go wrong here.
