Idiots guide to Jacking up rx300 please!
I've had a look through the different posts. I want to jack up my rx300 to change the bank1 sensor 1 a/f sensor.
Where is the best place for a hydraulic jack and to place the axle stands.
Photos would be appreciated!!
my 2c:
The axle stands worked fine with diffs with beams on either side (used to be cast iron). These days if the vehicles have it, the side beams are stamped in the diff housing (less weight and cost) and the vehicle weight should not be supported by the beam.
The side seams are in the way to support the vehicle by the jack stands ... I have seen some vehicles where no one cared and the seams are all chewed up.
If you crawl under you will find there are two (one front and one in the back) that have a structural member going across and can be used to lift and support with a hydraulic jack. I would still not work under the vehicle with such an arrangement.
My advice .. by a pair of ramps and drive the front up on them. A little care and caution is needed, but they are safe to work under. Less than $30 but huge reassurance ... specially if you are a major source of income for the family.

There is another excellent thread in the second generation GS forums by GSteg:

Axle stands in green or pink (preferably in green) jack in center in boxes take care not only when installing but removing the stands. Handbrake etc in park. Put bricks infront and behind the rear tyres kick wedge them in so it cannot roll forward or backwards. You did say idiot and i would hate for you to get hurt.
The pic is borrowed and modified from a Lexmex post. It was posted here
