Engine Block Heater
I have a 2002 RX 300 that is going to be sitting in a garage for several days at time this winter.
I live in Northern Montana and even though the garage is insulated it gets pretty cold in the garage during the long cold winter months.
I would like to find a "block heater" to provide some heat to the engine and ease cold winter starts after the car has set for several days.
I'm not interested in the type of heater that is installed in a freeze plug in the engine, I would like to find a good magnetic "stick on" heater that I can install on the engine oil pan and leave it there permanently (even though I won't use it during the summer months)
Has any forum member had experience with such a heater? and if so, what type did you use" manufacturer? Where and how to purchase?
Thanks for any advice and input.

Dont know of such a thing but i use a small space heater for the garage that my son left behind. I only use it here in Co. when it gets below 30 and it doesnt add weight to the RX.

I'm surprised you haven't gotten a lot of replies. Perhaps you could try the general maintenance forum, since the engine is somewhat common to other models.
My experience is with non-Lexus cars years ago when I lived up North. Warming the oil is probably best for the engine, but warming the coolant gives you passenger compartment heat more quickly. Warming both coolant and oil is probably optimal, in my opinion. Other than placement of the coolant warmer (perhaps on a hose?), I don't think the Lexus is different than most other cars as to placement.

Engine Block Heater
Thank you both for your responses.
I am continuing to look for a good heater that will adhere magnetically to the engine oil pan. I know they're out there I just need to find one with a long enough electrical "pigtail" so that the plug will extend out beyond the grille for easy connect and disconnect.
Thanks' again.........
