Power Steering Pump Flush
In repairing a leaking fluid cooler the repair shop recommends flushing the pump for a $99 fee. In keeping with the data I've read regarding flushing automatic transmissions, this would seem like a waste of money and might actually harm the pump.
Any advice in this situation??

Total waste of money.
Just buy a turkey baster [or buy a new one for kitchen and use the old one].
Suck out as much fluid as possible and discard/dispose properly.
Fill with new fluid.
Turn steering end to end and hold for 2 sec at each max position.
Repeat if necessary after few days.

I think it's more important the other way around. If the power steering pump puked junk into the system, then I would want to flush the cooler.
I just use my oil extractor to suck the old fluid out and do several drain/fills. Works great as does Mobil 1 ATF for the fluid.
