Dry or oiled engine air filter? What brand/type are you using?
I’ve searched all over the Internet and I see the pros and cons of using both. I have oiled filters on my other 3 vehicles (Honda, Nissan, and Toyota) and I only have a problem with the oil getting into things (on my 4Runner, due to over oiling – a common mistake, I was afraid to under oil) like the MAF but its easily cleaned. Well, I’m assuming it’s the oil but according to K&N that doesn’t happen. IMHO, bottom line: in general oiled cotton filters allow more air/dirt in and gives the best performance gain. Don’t really want to risk any problems on my RX300 so I was going to try a dry filter. I’m not saying that you will have problems if you use an oiled filter, but if you want to eliminate the potential problems associated with oiled filters and the hassle of cleaning and re-oiling them, then I’d stick with a dry filter. Again, don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with my K&N filters and I’ve been using them for years! I just want to try something new and would like to know what you are using. Of course feel free to let me know what you think.
Thanks!

I've been playing it safe and using the OEM dry air filter. Of the four cars I've had previously, two (I think) had oil bath oil filters. For sure, my 1972 Mercedes-Benz diesel and possibly my 1971 VW beetle. It has been so many years, I don't even remember for sure about the VW. I do recall it didn't have an oil filter though.
I'm not a performance driver and the few extra horsepower aren't important to me.

Sorry more like $13. I usually buy a bunch of stuff so shipping does not add much to the price. Part #17801-03010 I think they all take the same filter.
Pembroke Pines is $12.74

i went to a local auto parts store and got the Fram engine filter for $12
also don't forget to change your AC air filter as mine was DIRTY after 40K+ miles....it's located in the glove box but that tiny filter is expensive compared to the engine filter @ $25. There's a DIY for it but i figure $25 for 40K+ miles each time is not too bad
