Lexmex: I just went on Amazon and found the HP-2009 and clicked on their little "does this fit your car" link and it came back negative, saying that this filter wouldn't fit a 99 RX. How much stock to you put in these? If you have used them then I am going to order one anyway...

Lex's words aren't gospel... but they're close...

I just use OEM, but if I were upgrading and wanted something larger, I'd go with Lex's experience.

I trust it with my own eyes, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...il-change.html

The HP-1002 is the size of the OEM filter, but the HP-2009's only difference is that it's a bit longer, it still fits.

The oil change photos above show the HP-1002 and also the HP-2009 so you can see the difference, but they both fit our engines.

I plan to run one of these HP-2009s on my girlfriend's 4 Runner. The HP-1002 and HP-2009 work on a wide range of Lexus/Toyota products.

Why not use OEM filter with M1 syn oil, and change it once a year between 6-8k miles.

Quote: All,

With yearly mileages of both RX's between 6k and 7k, I am thinking of doing a drain and fill only midway through these times or mileages. In other words, I would do a drain and fill at 6 months (roughly 3-3.5k miles) and full filter change at 12 months (6-7k miles) for each of these cars. I just wonder with as little mileage I am putting on these each does it make sense to change the oil filter that often...can I get away with just doing a drain and fill at 6 months?

Not gonna hold anyone to the fire on this but I am curious to what you all think?

Thanks,
JBL
