MY 01 RX300 makes some kind of noise when starting. It sounds like when you start the engine will not start right away but crank longer. The noise comes from the starter area. Then I changed the new starter, it still makes the same noise. What would that be in that area beside the starter? Does anyone know? Thanks a ton!

 

What kind of noise is it. Can you be more specific? Is it possible that your ring gear has some damage on the teeth? If it is a nasty grinding noise at some point (s) as the engine turns over, I would take the starter back off and have someone turn the engine over with a breaker bar on the crank shaft while you watch the ring gear in the hole where the starter has been removed from. If it has damaged teeth you will be able to see them. If I could hear it, I could tell you but my hearing isn't good enough to hear from here!
