Default '99 RX front grill paint removal

Yesterday, I started to chip off the paint on the front grill, its has all little nicks from the rocks hitting it. I realized that there is a chrome finish underneath it. I wanted some suggestions on what to use (i.e. paint remover?) to get the entire grills top layer of paint off with out damaging the chrome underneath.

Our friend Ederny went the opposite way, but I think this looks good, too, I was considering this myself, http://rx300how2.home.comcast.net/~r...ened_grill.htm

What do you think I should put on the grill, now that all the paint it off, to prevent further nicks from objects from the road. I was going the apply a few coats of wax. Anyone else have any other suggestions?
