Default what is this?

i've been having some leaking issues with my rx300 and discovered another leak. i'm not sure which part this is and what type of leak. it looks like power steering fluid but i'm not 100% sure. would anyone be able to recognize this?

Looks like the barrel of your hydraulic TB tensioner located below your PS pump. Hard to say for sure; but, based on these pics, I'd go with a PS system leak - hose or pump seal.

I believe you won the teddy bear Art. That part is the barrel of the TB tensioner. It might not be it leaking, but if it is, he'll want to get it taken care of right away before the TB jumps a tooth or two from lack of tension.

Whoppee! I think if the TB tensioner itself were leaking, the fluid would run into the TB cover and not down the barrel. This fluid looks reddish like ATF. Wonder what fluid is inside the TB tensioner barrel?

You have two other things to consider as I've noted on the picture that can cause you leaks, however this could also be a half shaft seal leaking (something I had to deal with on mine) which looked just like the picture you've shown.

Other tracing form drip backwards, you can look for "which fluid level is falling". You did mention leak in the PS system. So now the link the start point and the end point.

I suggest you to clean the area with a good degreaser, run it for a short time and look again.

thanks guys for all your input. i discovered a rear seal leak a week ago and found this leak. i thought it was power steering fluid but the leak is pretty small and the level of fluid hasn't gone down much.

i'll try to degrease it and seeing where the leak is coming from.

i'm at 150,xxx mils on my rx and im thinking it's time to let it go...
