I would treat myself to a new starter....Compared to most Lexus prices, this starter is readily available from low cost part stores, and reasonably priced. Considering what's happened, I would think everything is gonna go bad on it. Because I'm sure sometimes it was on, while the motor was running, and you didn't know it....The real cost is the effort and down time to take the starter out. They only have a certain amount of "starts" in them anyways, and if you take care of any vehicle, you can expect to replace it at least once.....

IMHO, your problem is not the contacts of the solenoid [they typically wear out and provide resistive path for the current]. Your problem is either sticky contacts [unlikely] and issue with the release [return spring, deposit on relucter making the solenoid sticky [very likely] or starter pinion not moving back on the motor shaft].
To really diagnose this to the failing part, you will have to pull the starter and check it on the bench.
Chose what is best for you. Sure fix will be to replace the whole starter & solenoid assembly [it can be over kill]. The other extreme, just disassembling the solenoid and a cleaning of reluctor may solve your problem too [just time and your labor].
