I was sitting at a stoplight earlier today and the RPMs started jumping and lights flashing in the bottom right corner. It lasted for about 15 seconds and seemed like it almost wanted to stall. I turned off the a/c and everything went back to normal. Turned the a/c back on a few minutes later and it was normal again. Anyone know what this might be. Car only has 43,000 miles so don't think its anything major. Thanks

 

It could have been a gasoline issue or something temporary with the MAF sensor.

Even if there is no check engine light, you can have it checked with an OBD2 scanner at a place like Autozone to pull any pending codes in the computer.

 

I had rough idle on two occasions. The first time my mechanic cleaned the IAC valve and it ran much better afterward. The second time I experienced a rough idle, the code reader indicated the need to replace one ignition coil.

 

If it's a bad coil, it's usually more than just a "rough" idle - it's more like an earthquake!
