Towing info
Anyone know how much weight you can easily tow with an RX300? I am thinking of using my Rex to tow an approx. 3,000 lb race car. The trailer will add some weight too.
Anybody have any experience towing with the RX? Is it powerful enough to handle the job?

I do not think power would be an issue, especially if you live in a relatively flat area. The only issues I can think of are short wheelbase and the trailer/car possibly making the tow vehicle a bit unstable. Also, braking could be a problem, but I believe most car trailers have brakes.
I own a 2001 4Runner and I towed a 4,000 lb. boat last weekend with it. Power wasn't a problem (and the 4Runner has less power than the RX 300). Ride was the problem (not handling, just a rough ride when towing due to the rear suspension design). Also, some vehicles tend to allow for the trailer to make the rear of a vehicle sway a bit which may activate VSC more than you would like. I've read many times that VSC is sensitive, but I have yet to activate it and I have tried to.
Personally, I would not tow a car with the RX 300 for distances greater than a few miles at low speeds. It is best to have, especially when towing a heavy trailer, a long wheelbase vehicle that at least is equal to the weight of the trailer (and whatever is one the trailer) or heavier. You do not want the trailer to be in control of the RX.
