so im going to get a new battery very soon, i want to get one of those dry cell batteries, but theyre like 300 bucks and im not sure i wanna drop that much on a battery, anybody got any preferences/suggestions?
I live in the Washington DC-area most of the year. Unless you have some special situation, like big-time audio add-ons, etc.; why not stick with a conventional wet-cell battery? I'm guessing the "dry-cell" you refer to might actually be more of a gell-cell. Many on the forum, including myself, have gone with the Costco replacement battery. It is hard to beat for the price (maybe $60). It's not like you need heavy-duty cold-weather cranking in Maryland, unless you take ski trips to Canada. Years ago, they used to sell Nickel-Cadmium (NiCad) batteries for cars, but I haven't heard about them being available for over 40 years.
Do a search and you will find lots of discussion on Optima [they are gel type] and can be obtained from $70 to $120.
I like them as they are sealed (almost) and you do not get the fumes venting in the engine bay. You have to make slight adjustments as they are not a drop in replacement.

The Wal-Mart EverStart is also made by Johnson Controls and is one of the top-rated batteries according to Consumer Report. I just put one in my wife's 2000 RX300 for about $64.00 and it's got a 3-year " hand-me-a-new-one " warranty and an 8 year prorated replacement warranty.

BTW, thanks everyone for all of your input, you guys are f'n awesome
Difference: lightweight sealed battery and more expensive for the same cranking amps, B3121 is only 21 lbs but put out 1380 Pulse Cranking Amps

The difference of 20-30 lbs over OEM increases acceleration and braking performance, it should save gas since less dead weight for the entire life of Braille battery.
