Strange problem after replacing battery
2001 RX300 110K
My wife's battery died last night while we were putting gas in the car. It was already pretty dead but running the fan and radio while sitting in the gas pump killed it. Jumped it off and then drove it home fine. No issues at all. Decided I would take the battery out and find a replacement. Drove around for a while with the battery in my car and ended up not finding one so waited till morning.
So I replaced the original battery with a napa 8424f this morning. Everything went find with hooking it back up, but now, it will not start. Here are the symptoms I am looking for help on:
- wheni put the key in the ignition without turning it, i hear a buzzing/humming that is constant coming from under the drivers side in the engine compartment.
- When I go to start it, it will start and turn over but only if I give it gas and do not let off the throttle. If i do let off, it dies.
- Tried another battery and same deal.
- At the same time, the remote for the door locks works and the beep-bep is heard but the flashers do not flash as they normally would when your engage/disengage the alarm.
So....
Is this something I did? Part of anti-theft system? fuel pump issues? Idle control valve issue?
Tried running it for a while to see if it freed up the ICV but did not make a difference. still hear the buzzing when inserting key and then car will not stay running.
Thanks!

I flipped the poles when hooking up a new die hard on my wife's CRV years ago.
Blew the main fuse and had to go to the dealer to get a new one.
Lucky my dealer 3 mins from the house had 1 left in stock in the whole area.
Maybe what you need to do to get the car running.
Was told the fuse blows first before the ECU gets shorted out.
Be careful and don't mixup the poles (+/-) when reconnecting the battery
