Hi, my names Brian and I am new to club lexus. I currently drive my familys silver 03 rx-300 because otherwise it would just sit in the driveway. This is my first car and i do not know all that much about cars in general but am willing to learn asap.

I guess it started watching my father do routine maintenance on our cars. Before the computer age there were newsletters (e.g., VW Owner's Association) that had information like this forum. Some car makes had Repair/Shop Manuals that were really great, like SAAB and Mercedes-Benz. These gave all the information and photos you needed to do almost anything. I don't know if any brand of car has Repair/Shop manuals that good any more. Lastly, I had friends who helped me with repairs until I had the confidence to do stuff myself.

In my case, I had my father and his brother growing up, there was my Uncle Antonio in Mexico and my cousins (his sons) and I read just about every last little bit of information when I first joined Club Lexus and everything else I could find on the net, even using a translator to translate stuff from Japanese. A lot of stuff just came from experimentation and living in Mexico City and being forced to live without a Lexus dealer, you have to live with what you've got. Only to happy to contribute over the years and save people time and $$$.

Thank you. Don't plan on really doing any drag racing anymore with it. We don't have a 1/4 mile track in Miami and more important considerations take my focus now, though maintenance will. Should they ever open a 1/4 mile track here, I probably will try it once for sea level.

Hi, Brian! I have gotten so much useful information here, and I've saved myself a great deal of time and money. If you're a do-it-yourselfer, you'll find a lot of hints and places to save money on parts, OEM and otherwise. Have fun! (I have a 99 RX for my daughter!) Welcome!

i'll probably start looking online and through previous threads. they seem pretty detailed and step by step.
on one forum that i had looked at from florida they talk about moroso a lot, but i dont know how far away from miami is and i think its under construction right now.
