Default Front Transfer Case Leaks

I have a transfer case leak on my '00 RX300 AWD with about 97k miles on it.

Appears to be coming from either the area where the silicone mated the iron and aluminum parts of the housing, or possibly from where the transfer case connects to the trans.

Am I correct to assume that the dealer will not fix this under warranty at my mileage?

Has anyone tried to repair this themselves? I've read a few of the postings with various transfer case leaks and they talk about removing the transmission...

do a thorough cleanup and figure out the actual source. Remedy can be as simple as a $0.90 gasket and some transmission oil.

Are we talking the front differential or the transfer case? The front differential, depending on which side, could require removing the transmission or the wheel axle on the driver's side. There is a special service tool that allows on to remove the seal. My uncle's friend did this for me on my transmission when we took it out back in December. We also did the transfer case seals while we were at it.

Gaskets there were rather cheap, probably 90 cents aftermarket, I think about $6 USD at the dealer, but I 100% agree with you on locating the source, as I can think of a few other sources where it could be from.
