STEP6: Now for the ashtray part, Remove all 4 screws circled in red.
NOTE: This is the top part of the drawer.

STEP7: Remove all 6 screws in the red circle.
NOTE: This is the bottom of the top drawer.

STEP8: After fully completing the above steps, you should be able to jiggle the ashtray section off. You will see the ashtray light bulb. If it needs to be replace do so now.
Be careful when removing the light bulb, the silver part where the bulb snaps in is delicate and can break off. It is welded to the plastic. Mine broke off from one of the sides. I used a solder iron and welded it back in place.

The Ashtray light bulb. Notice it has a robber cover for the light to be made green.

Finally the ashtray removed, this is going to be the area we need to work on. These next pictures will show the ashtray from different angles. And then fully taken apart to show the gears and springs mechanism.

Notice where my bulb holder broke on the right side, CAREFUL.

This is were I believe the area of the problem is. Here you will see a thin metal spring that hold a plastic hook. Check this area to make sure the mechanism works properly. I will shoot a closer look in a sec.

Here is the other side, it uses gears instead of the hook type. I will shoot a closer shot in a sec.

Closer shot of the gear mechanism. Make sure its free of debris and none of the gear teeth's are missing.
