What is the piece that seems to be sticking out? I have no problems but I was wondering why this small piece is sticking out. I bought the car used but I don't think the engine was ever taken apart. Is this the way it is supposed to look?

That's the way it is supposed to look. That is part of the gasket between the intake manifold and engine block. There are some holes that are actually used to put bolts through. My uncle likes to use those excess holes sometimes just to make sure the gasket is properly seated and my cousin will attach an extra grounding wire to that location, too, on other vehicles.

Thanks, Lexmex.
It just looks strange, like the gasket was installed crooked. I feel better now.
