also has anyone here had their engine cleaned professionaly and did it cause any problems?
Well on the car I am looking at now has a 1/2" flat looking wire coming from there under the air filter tube to one of the top nuts holding the strut, he says it is a grounding wire. Could that be true and why?
They are there to attach hooks to for ease of pulling the engine out. At least thats what I used them for. There's no real other purpose that I can think of.
Here's a pic of mine on the intake side.Your safe, not missing anything.
Looks normal to me, and no different than any other engine block including the 1uzfe block. Just remember that engine blocks are milled and honed. The portion circled was obviously milled and honed.
When an engine is manufactured, it is designed to fit into many different cars. Now toyota hasn't used the 3.0 I6 in many cars in the past few years but the design has been around for along time. The holes that are drilled into your cylinder head have probably been a part of the design plan since the engine was originally put into use. It doesn't pay to redesign it for every single application. Those holes were never used in the gs. It can be used to place a hook in so you can lift the motor out. The pic of the gs with a ground wire attached to it is definetly not original. Somebody Somewhere put that in for a reason that I can't figure out. In short, nothing to worry about, my gs and everybody else's has the same holes.
Yeah, the GTE comes with the hooks already there. For some reason though those hooks are NOT a replacement part as I lost the front one and called Toyota about it, no dice
