I don't remember the "full capacity" of the tank, but when the light just comes on and I go to fill, it comes out to 15-16 gallons. I would say most vehicles allow for a good 30 miles+ (typical rest stop distance on interstates) of reserve. Unless you're in the middle of the Nevada desert, once the light comes on, you're good to make it to next gas station.
