Default Help aiming RX300 headlights

Hello RXperts,

Can anyone give me any direction on how to aim the headlight on a 01 RX 300? My owner's manual states adjusting 2 screws in the back. But those instructions only apply to the HID lights (I assume), because I don't have those 2 screws. My search on this site gave me the same info. So does anyone have experience in adjusting the standard low beams.

Thanks,
gutus

The right way is to go to a garage {typically the ones who do state inspection} they have the limits for what is legal and the equipment to check the spotting.

If you want to mess with them yourself, let me caution you that getting it just perfect will be hard ...

Get your vehicle in typical driving condition [factory sets them for extreme] gas in tank, air pressure, occupant weighing the vehicle down etc etc. Remember to shake all ends of RX up and down to bring suspension in "normal" position.

Locate the set screws [2 each for low and high beam]. The way the lamp assemblies are, these set screws may not be in logical location. One adjusts side ways and one adjusts up/down.

Ppl generally do the adjustment in the garage [wall parallel to the front of the vehicle] and vehicle 25' from the wall. The spot should be 3" below the center . Both should be slightly pointing to the passenger side [safety for oncoming traffic as well as to help you see the edge of the road]. If my recollection of the numbers is wrong, any one is welcome to correct it.

All the above is much easier said(stated) than done. I can never find the brightest spot accurately. The more practical approach is to go on deserted road and drive around and adjust for good visibility and then turn the lights down a bit.

I have observed that most drivers drive around with high beams on ... want o light up everything. So if you are used to that, the DIY methods will most probably get you the wrong settings.

Bottom line: Go to garage who has the equipment, just prepare your RX to be in the typical mode.

Thanks for the info salimshah.

Do you know the location of the set screws? That is what is giving me a hard time...can't find the adjusting screws.

they are on the back of the housing. mine were covered by a cylinder that required a tool turn them. I took off my headlights, broke off the cylinders and used a screwdriver to adjust the beams
