Default Cruise control not working???

Just got a 2002 with 73,000 miles. Everything works except the cruise control.
Light comes on on dash when turned on but no functions whatsoever.
Did some wiggle and visual tests and made sure cable was hooked up.

Any help will be appreciated.

You might have a bad brake light switch on the pedal. Sometimes they are double poled, one pole goes to the cruise control. oTher than that check the fuses.

Well, I don't know if this has anything to do with your car but my 93 SC's cruise only works if it's above 40. Or around there. Maybe mine is broken...

Try duct tape.
For YoshRX300: Yes, it is a joke.

Cruise Control will work on speeds > 20 mph.
That is almost impossible that Cruise Control is not working. Are you familiar with Toyota controls? You are not touching brakes while on the mode?
Open the hood and check the cord going from the black box on the passenger side to throttle body, it needs to be a bit loose. Check the all wire harnesses under hood.

Default Can't "Resume"

My cruise control works on my 2000 RX, all except for the "resume" feature. Does this sound like I need to replace the module? Any idea how much they cost and where to get them aftermarket?

Thanks,
Eph

I have a friend, a senior pilot for a major airline, who insists there only two essential tools needed in any toolbox:
  1. For those things that move and shouldn't: Duct tape

  2. For those things that don't move and should: WD-40

That's it.

And they let him fly the big jets . . . . .

I only have two tools in my toolbox.

A hammer and a big hammer.

Actually, a person needs only three tools in life: WD-40, duct tape and a hammer. If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape. If either doesn't work, use the hammer.

I wonder why nobody invented all 3-in-one tool.

Where is the cruise control module located?
What's it look like?
Any idea what they cost to replace with an OEM part from Lexus?
Do you think that's what is causing my "resume" to not work? Everything else does, including "accelerate" (which is the same "up" motion on the lever).

Thanks,
Eph

PS - Will duct tape fix it?

Electro conductive repair grease into the cavities of the electric plug on the under hood module.

If Resume works sometimes, but sometimes seems to cancel, well, the electrical signal is being lost intermittantly. Loose connection somewhere. Plug at the underhood module, or, plug of the control stalk, inside the steering column. Intermittant electical plugs are common on pretty much all modern vehicles. Shame on the manufacturers. Don't solder it, just slap it together fast and cheap and easy, then let the buyer pay to replace high priced parts that don't need replacing, just cheap plastic plugs.
