Default brake light

Hi. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem before. I had my brake light out on the dash come on. Then when I had my friend looked in the back it was "supposedly" blown out I guess. But today I turned my car on and noticed the brake light out was off. And I had someone look at the back while i steped on the brake the brake light was working. So I was wondering if anyone has this kind of problem is it a common problem or loose wiring? Thanks.

There are three brake lights in the rear (left, right, and top center). I'm assuming that only one of them was temporarily out. I'll guess the most likely cause was an open in the light bulb that fused back together by vibration. Corrosion at the socket is also a possibility.

Either way, I'd replace the bulb at your leisure if you know which one it was. If you don't know which bulb it was, just wait until it happens again.

I had the same "problem" with the warning light on the dash indicating that a bulb had blown--come to find out, through the very nice body shop that I took it to, they just took the bulb out and cleaned the base, and voila' the bulb worked! They said that the bulb base gets dirty and once cleaned, it will work---maybe this will work for you too...?
