Our 2000 RX300 currently has 155,000 miles. The timing belt was changed, by the dealer at 90. There's nothing in the maintenance book that I can find that says it needed to be done then, but perhaps it did.
At any rate the car is running well, we've replaced a number of things, including transmission at 100, a/c, brakes, tires. etc. My question, is it time to replace that timing belt again? And if not now, then when.
Actually this is my wife's car and I'm no expert on Lexus, having mainly owned Volvos and Saabs.
The next reccomended replacement would be at 180K miles {multiples of 90K}.
I would not suggest replacing it sooner unlesss something was messed up in the belt path, reducing the life time. Some might suggest psuhing it out further, but I would suggest to follow manufacturers reccomendation.
but generally speaking, does anybody know how many miles between timing belt changes on this model; 2000 RX300. The manual says to change it only if you've done a lot of towing etc.
What is the recieved wisdom on changing the timing belt on this model?
