Default Trac Off, VSC, and Engine Check Light on

Tonight, while sitting in a fast food line, my Trac Off, VSC, and Engine Check lights all came on at once. I restarted the engine and they came on only briefly as they should, but when I shifted into forward again, they came on again and stayed on until I got home.

My RX300 is a 2002 with 61,000 miles.

The Owners manual says to call Lexus. Does anyone have an idea of what my problem might be? Thanks for your help.

go to autozone and let them scan the check engine light. its for free and they usually print out the codes for you.

A common cause is when you over fill your gas tank. There is no where for the fumes to go and it throws a cel. Also a common cause is the air/fuel sensors. $250-400 to fix.

Thanks for the info. I got down to Auto Zone this morning and the Check Engine codes were P0440 and P0446 both dealing with emission controls. They erased the memory and all the lights went off. I drove it about three miles home and still no lights. They told me that sometimes those lights deal with a loose gas cap so I turned it a few more notches.

anulex - the over fill of gas tank would be a possibility, except I have driven over 200 miles since filling the tank. However, the last time I filled it I was in South Carolina where the gas is always much cheaper, and I probably put in a little more than I normally do.

Thanks to both of you for your responses. Since the lights didn't come on while driving home, maybe they will stay off and all is well.

Clean the gas cap threads with something that can get the grundge off. Also clean the receiving end at the tank neck.

I had the same problem the week after I purchased my used rx(altho I just had the CE light), after cleaning it, the problem went away and has stayed away for the last 60,000km
