Well, I remember the old days (on my 1972 Mercedes-Benz) when replacing the shocks was a simple 1-person DIY operation. All I had to do was jack up one corner of the car, put the tire on a platform to keep it raised, and lower the frame jack until there was zero tension/compression on the shock. Not even any springs compressors needed. I just couldn't help sharing my recollections.
