Default question about tail fin

Also is there any way to unhook the tail fin on the back of my rx300 1999? I am not a big fan of the spoiler and would much rather remove it if possible?

Also I wanted to let everyone know that I got my leather dye and it worked great. I got ivory 3 from the website I posted below and it takes 2-3 light coats, but you would never know the leather had been colored. I had mildew on one of the seats in the back and it covered quite nicely. Drying with the hair dryer on low works best than air drying also. The color may look a little darker in the bottle but it dries to match the color of the seats.

Yes, it is possible to remove the spoiler, but you would be stuck with some holes...

Post some pictures up of your dye, I'm sure it'll be easier to convince people that way..

I actually did this on my RX. The spoiler now sits (as shown in the photo) on my cousin's black, 1995 VW Golf VR6 and he actually gets a lot of people wanting to know where to get that spolier when he takes it to car shows, even though I actually like the newer design but to me the newer one only looks good in anything but black. Rather keep the weight off, too, for performance.

And yes, you will be stuck with holes.

We had to fill in the holes first with extra screws to avoid water getting in and then place filler over the top, smoothening it out and then applying some black DuPont paint to get the result shown in the photo.

I have no intention of putting the new one on after seeing some other black ones with it.

Okay thanks for the info. I will have to check it out when I get my rx300 from the shop today. I will post some pics later on with the colored seat. The bottle was $30 with shipping but it will probably do at least 2 front seats.

by the way you did a real good job on the spoiler. I can't even tell there was ever one there.

One thing that I truly like doing better than adding the more current RX300 spoiler is to remove the four middle pieces on the top of my RX and remove and/or fill in the roof rails. I think I may have seen this somewhere else on the net.

For some reason to me, the newer spoiler in black doesn't have the same beautiful look as it does in other colors when viewed from the rear.

Obviously, these would come after finish my performance modifications.

I think the newer black spoiler looks great...the pre-01 spoiler looks

The side view is nice but when I see it from the rear it just isn't as pronounced due to the darker color, but that is my opinion. Also, I don't know about how much drag this spoiler has, though roofracks and mudflaps had to go.

That Silversport is beautiful. I had to paint my lower panels black to match.

Well I took my car into to the actual lexus dealership today..got it back this evening. They were open until 11pm. They said it was a defective MAF they put in. Is that the same thing as an o2 sensor?

Anyways, it runs great and I think it might even be getting better gas mileage.

The link for the leather dye is http://www.leatherworldtech.com

I will post photos tomorrow of my car that I did. Its late tonight.

MAF sensor is a little sensor that goes just after that big black airbox, whereas the O2 sensors (there are 3) are on the exhaust manifolds and one just after the main catalytic converter below the vehicle.

I am still going to cross my fingers on this one.

I wanted to add that replacing the MAF sensor should help you get that gas mileage up.

Did they say why it was defective?
