question about 20" tire
i have a quick question .. i have 20" wheels and im looking for some new tires... as of right now i have 245 40 20 ... i was thinking about 245 45 20 tires.. have anyone tryed this size before? does it ride smooth?
The 45's imho are a better fit for the truck, especially if you do not intend on lowering it.. I have had the Avon a/s 245/45/20 . For about 4-5k. They are a great set of tires!!!! Rides smoother than stock. better handling, excellent in the rain, and no road noise.... Have yet to try the snow but I am very satisified so far. Trust me, I could say my opinion is worth something... I am the sales manager for a high end rim shop in NJ... I have also personally modded all of my cars since before I could even drive. I have literally driven on almost every aftermarket tire manufacturer out there.16-28" I would highly recommend them for daily driving.. At first I was weary of Avon??? Who are they, then after some research I read these tires are distributed throughout Europe, on some Bentley, and R.R..

I'll keep those Avontechs in mind. I just got my 20x8.5 rims 245/35/20 nankangs (cheap) and so far the ride isnt bad. They do look timy on the RX so I'm looking into the 245/45s as soon as i get a little more money. Hey JDM you gotta pic of your setup?

My brother just took off my struts, painted them dropped some intrax lowering springs inside and reinstalled. He also painted my calipers and mounted my dubz.
The tires fit perfect in the rear. he is some a gear head and was pumped with how perfect they looed flush with the wheel wells yet keeping a clean look for the truck.
We had one problem. The rims I bought were clipping the front calipers. My bro has to grind off about 1/8" off the caliper and around where the rotor came in contact with my rims. Quick little grind and I'm now on my way...pics to come this week!

Those are two of the last places I'd want to simply "grind off" metal . . . what with all that structural integrity and safety stuff . . . of course you could just eliminate the front calipers and rotors altogether - and have plenty of clearance for those rims . . .
