Stopped Clock
Anybody,
Here's a good one. I just replaced my battery. The clock has stopped working. It displays 1:00 permanently. In fact all timing functions on the multifunction display have stopped working (The trip timer does not run). Any ideas?

Remove the ign key. OFF would work but dont risk it, and totally remove it.
Disconnect the battery for 15~20 mins.
Reconnect firmly ... I mean one solid connection the first time ... prevent arcing/sparking.

Thanks for the suggestion. I left my RX300 with the battery disconnected for two weeks (while I was abroad). Upon my return, I reconnected the battery but the clock still does not work. Any other suggestions?
Are you sure it is not the Alarm. (clock alarm)
Or was the RX electricals been reworked by a stereo/Theft-alarm.
By the way the electrolytic capacitors is ALL electronics need to get a charge once a while, else they become leaky. I really doubt this is the case but there is always a possibility.

i was told by a friend that if you disconnect your battery for a long period of time that it can either be because of a bad battery (check the light on your battery, is it blue?) or Lexus might have to reset something (he took his benz to some bodyshop for a few weeks and had to take it to a dealership to get it reset) might wanna call lexus and see if they need to reset something. Hope this helps.
good luck
you did not mention if you replaced your battery. seems the RX display screen is sensitive to under voltage conditions.you will find other treads on this subject ,with people whome have had simular problms.hope this helps
Interesting problem.
Sounds like something is completely cutting off current from battery after ignition is disconnected.
Do the seat settings stay, how are the radio station presets from when you program them to when you turn key off and then back on again?
If all else fails take it to local dealer, I'm sure they will love to determine cause.
Look at the bright side, "at least your stopped clock is right twice a day".

If you can not retain seat settings then you may have a smoking gun as your clock also does not retain time. In this case the ecu is malfunctioning. Replacement cost is $$$$ (4 digits). If out of warranty, I would buy a portable gps system for less money and adjust seats manually

Salim,
For clarity, the seat settings get wiped out even without disconnecting the battery. In fact , I even cannot program them. From your remarks, it appears that the ECU is the culprit. Regardless of the cost, is the ECU easy to install or does it require extensive work. If I were to get a used one, would it work on my vehicle. Where is it located in vehicle.
Thanks,
G.

My microwave clock won't go unless I set the time after power outage.
