RX300 Engine Mounts
My wife's 2000 RX300 FWD [ 55,000 miles ] jerks when it's put into gear, either drive or reverse. I've replaced the upper mount [ dogbone ] because it appeared to be loose and worn-out. The front and rear engine mounts seem to be in good condition. There is what appears to be a damper / shock absorber on the front of the engine under the exhaust manifold. Could this part be worn-out and is causing the engine to move for and aft? Do RX300's have a history of this problem? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I am also having the same problem, my ES300 1993 (127 K miles), also jerks when i put it into drive. Any suggestions on where I can replace the mounts in the Northern Virginia area and what the approximate costs should be. Thanks in advance.

I'll be honest with you, I'm beginning to think it's the transmission. It does it about 80% of the time. When moving the gearshift selector into reverse, then neutral, then into drive it jerks really bad. At first I thought that the engine was idling too fast, but now even after warm-up and the idle is about 750 RPM the transmission gives a jolt when put into gear. I'm wondering if this is " the time " I've been reading about in this and other forums. The dealer has jerked us around concerning other issues supposedly covered under the Certified Warranty; I'm apprehensive about this deal!
