Can anyone help explain? My driver's side door of my 2001 RX300 will not unlock with the remote, however, if I put the key in the lock , lock it, and then try to unlock it with the remote it works for a short time. Also, my power windows also work intermittently. Sometimes they won't work and once I'm parked and open and close the driver's door they seem to work again (as if something has reset.) I'm assuming the problems are related, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. The fuses are all fine. Any ideas before I take it to a dealer and get charged $$$$$$?

 

I hv similar issue.
I hv to lock TWICE to get my remote control displayed the driver's door is LOCKED. If I only press the lock button once, it lock all doors but my remote monitor still indicates driver's door UNLOCKED, but it is actually LOCKED as I checked it physically by pulling the door opener.

 

Is the battery original (2001) or has it been replaced? If it's original, that might be the problem.
The RX is notorious for drawing quite a bit of power even when the key is off, so the first sign of a bad battery is that the electronics start failing in strange ways. These problems will appear long before you have trouble with cranking the engine, the typical indicator of a battery problem.

 

I changed my battery recently, while my alarm/security system is an after-market one.
I just discovered today. If I wait few minutes after I closed the driver's door, and then lock using my remote control, it doing fine, the remote control display shows LOCKED with one press only.

Strange.., but not a big deal.
