Default RX300 Shift Points

My wifes RX has a cold start/run problem. After the vehicle is started and then driven it acts like it will not shift out of 2nd gear into 3rd. After a few miles and as the engine warms up it then shifts into 3rd gear and acts normally.

I am wondering if accelerator pedal linkage adjustment at the throttle body may have something to do with it, or possibly the second linkage from what I think may be the choke assembly.

Could it be one or both of those or possibly something else?

What would cause that to happen?

Thanks,

Wes

This is normal and has been discussed. It it is related to the transmission and fluid needing to warm up.

It is normal and the behavior is BY DESIGN, nothing to worry about. This behavior is to do with the emission issues.

BTW, when I go to the races, I usually have to wait 3 minutes until I can pull her out on to the track precisely due to this issue.

Wes,

As explained before,

this is not a problem it is a carefully designed feature from Lexus to accellerate the optimum operating temperature and reduce emissions.

Just don't push the car hard for the first couple of minutes (it will tell you when its ready, by shifting into the next gear).

Cheers,

Fern
