Yep, they are big, if the speed bumps don't get you first...the uneven roads will get you...bigger hazard than potholes.

I am looking at a set of tires that require 7" rim (235/70R16 Pirelli Scorpion STR.) Will that fit on the RX300 stock wheels? which I believe is 6.5". Thanks.

Go to http://www.tires.com and you can see what tires will fit your rims. The stock rims on the 99 RX300 take 6" to 7" tires.

By checking the specs on tires you'll see many will fit from 6" to 7.5".

You should be fine running these tires in 235 width in stock rims. According to tires.com, 245 is the max allowed in our stock rims. Which is what I am running with no problem what so ever.

The Perelli Scorpion STR seems to have excellent reviews over at tirerack, with the 3 most notable features that I always look for in a tire: quite on city & highway, good wet traction, & tread wear. Don't think you can go wrong with Perelli.

OK, I put the Yokohama's 235/70R16's on the '99 RX300 with stock rims and they do NOT (Correction) touch the struts. Not by much, but they touch, Correction: Do NOT touch like feather touch. The increased tire size also made it almost a no-fit situation because at the top of the strut at the spring housing I have maybe 3/8's inch clearance.

If I had to do it all over again I'd stick with stock size tires. 225/70R16's.

Now I think I need spacers, but not much, maybe 1/8" at the most 1/4".

Anyone have any resources for wheel spacers?

Wes

I usually get my local Discount Tire to price match the best price on internet (which is usually from tirerack). I don't mind paying the tax, which is usually offset by shipping cost. If Discount Tire does not carry the particular tire that you care looking for, they can usually order it for you for the same price. Less the headaches with local service to boot.

Isn't stock's tire's size = 225/70/16 and not 255?

Regardless, our RX300 model is yr 2000, unless I am mistaken, it'll hard pressed for Lexus to have different rim size between 99 & 00. I am running the 245 size which is even wider than your 235 and no rubbing what so ever w/ over 5K +miles.

Hmm ... something doesn't add up

Yep, it's 225, not 255...my mistake. The inside sidewall is rubbing enough that it makes it look like a finger was used to clean off the dirt a little on the strut. Not enough to rub any paint or really make any real mark other than a smudge mark on the tires inside wall.

Tomorrow I am going to see if I can slide some thin cardboard (Like from a gift box) between the tire and the strut.

I have Yoko Geolander, it seems letters engraved on side walls are too thick. Padding with paper will take away already tight spacing and probably won't last. Why not try to make your own spacer by carefully measuring and marking holes and contours of rear wheel hubs. Use the hard cover, which is good 2-3mm thick, of an old book and cut out your spacer with a Xacto knife. It is not perfect but a cheap short term solution

I am not sure what's the bolt pattern for the RX300 wheel, but below linky has spacers of various sizes & thickness for cheap.

Does anyone know what the bolt pattern is for the 1999 RX300?

5 lug on what center? 4.5"?, etc. So I make sure I get the right spacer(s).

BTW, I am not using cardboard or paper as a spacer. That will not happen.

Thanks,

Wes

It's 5 X 114.3 mm. Since you are going for the spacers, now is a good time to push all four wheels out for an even wider stance, I hear that you can push out as much as 35mm .

BTW, good decision on not using cardboard for shimmer
