Hello. This forum has been quite useful in my search for a new SUV for my growing family. I narrowed down my search to the RX and MDX. On looks and interior quality the RX beats the MDX hands down IMO.
My question is when is the next gen RX due out. I hate nothing more than buying a new car only to have it restyled/significantly improved the next year. do you guys have any input on this?

I also eventually narrowed my search to the MDX and RX, and finally bought the RX back in January for the reasons you mention as well as availability (up to a 3 month wait) and price (MDX was selling at a premium over sticker). From what I've seen on some other forums, the availability problems still seem to exist. I also factored in service and the quality of treatment from the dealership and there was no comparison. Not sure where you live, but I'm in the DFW area and bought from Park Place Lexus in Grapevine, where they treat you like royalty. I test drove the MDX at Goodson Acura in Irving and they really didn't seem particularly interested in my business. I felt like I was in a Honda dealership, and they didn't offer any of the perks Park Place did (free carwashes, free loaners, etc.). Not that you really asked about all that, but there it is anyway! Bottom line is that I've been very happy with the decision.

As for a redesign, I think the next one's on tap for '03. I found this link in the Edmund's RX300 forum. Dunno how close to reality it will be...

You are correct you get Lexus service. I also looked at other SUVs Durango MDX Jeep BMW(way over priced) and this has it all, and it doesn't look like a van or boat (MDX). HID lights NAV, rides high, gets good MPG. The only thing I don't like is the tires, new 255-65-16 are on my wish list.
