They do these installs all the time and are usually pretty reasonable and quick. I would try to find one that sells the hidden-hitch #70777 and let them do the wiring with the method they recommend.
If the plug isn't present then he needs the part # I posted above. It's much easier to install than the universal etrailer wiring kit as splicing isn't necessary and its plug and play. This is a very simple thing to do even for the most mechanically challenged individuals. It comes with directions that are pretty clear. I'll post them along with pics for all to see. Any questions? Just ask.

jeremyp111,
Would the converter plug into the orange female adapter, the pic. attached in my earlier post?
Thanks, your diagrams are extremely helpful.

The kit jeremyp11 posted above is the one you will need if you don't have the plug in the black plastic compartment. It is considered the hardwire kit (even though it uses plug in connectors at the tailights). The difference being that if you have the plug, it is already connected to the harness which has all the necessary lighting connections and you just use a kit that plugs into it. If you don't have the plug, you use this kit which is a little more complex and you manually tap off the required lighting connections up at the tailights. Complete installation instructions are located at this link which I posted above. The poster at this link claimed it is about 4 hours to put this kit in. Hope this helps.

Update #1
Here is my first update. I called my local Lexus dealer, gave them the part #08921-00031. I was told that this part # has changed to #08921-48051, cost $159.46.
So I contacted American Lexus Parts. They quoted me $130.76 for part #08921-00031. I will be ordering from them here in the next couple of days...
Placed order 3/24 for part # 08921-00031...should receive early next week.

If you are looking in the spare tire well you are in the wrong place. You need to look from underneath the car in the black plastic box for a pigtail (see the pics in the link I posted above). Being that you have a 2002 you stand a much better chance of having this pigtail than spindoctor did with his 2000. The pigtail is there in my 2001. If you have this pigtail you only need a harness to plug into it and a controller. There is no need to remove the interior panels to get at the various connections (the factory already did it for you). This will save you about 4 hours in install time. The kit spindoctor is using is made for a RX without the wiring.

Installation
Received the parts today. The part number received turned out to be #08921-48051. The package included everything in the first diagram jeremyp111 posted. The orange pigtail I had believed to be part of the tow wiring did not even come into play. Not part of the tow package.
The instructions are pretty straight forward. I did however have trouble locating the lamp failure unit.. It is located up inside the inner part of the wheel well area. You have to follow the existing wiring up until you feel a box approx 1"x'1"x2". You cannot see it even with the side panel removed, and yes you will need to remove both left and right side panels. Not a big deal. It took be @ 2.5 hours to complete the job.
Attached is the actual diagram included with the kit, with a couple of notes. Hopefully it will help.
Next...the test!!!

Job Complete
This will be my final post on this issue. Recieved my Hidden Hitch (#70777) today and installed. 6 bolts...simple. Beautiful fit by the way. Connected the remaining harness (hitch pigtail). Tested all trailer lights and they worked perfectly!!!! Job complete. Thank you all for the input!!! This is a great site!!!
